Preparing for the Pensioners’ Dental Services Plan transition to Canada Life

Here are some important dates, reminders and actions to take to ensure your claims continue to be processed without interruption.

Important dates in 2024

August to early September: Canada Life completed positive enrolment on your behalf

Validate your positive enrolment information

  • By now, Canada Life will have sent you an email or mail confirmation notice asking you to update (if needed) and validate your personal information.
  • The electronic confirmation notice will include steps to access your new PDSP benefit card and plan number. The paper confirmation notice will include a paper PDSP benefit card.
  • You are encouraged to validate all your information before November 1, 2024, to ensure no disruption in the payment of your or your eligible dependant’s dental claims.

Important note: If you are a new member of the PDSP who joined the plan on or after July 18, 2024, you will need to complete positive enrolment on your own.

Direct deposit

  • For your security, Canada Life could not pull banking information from other sources.
  • If you wish to have direct deposit of your dental claim payments into your bank account, provide Canada Life with your banking information during the validation process.

Or to add banking information with Canada Life:

August 29 to October 31: Members who need to complete their positive enrolment with Canada Life

If you did not receive a positive enrolment confirmation notice from Canada Life, you will have to complete positive enrolment on your own and provide consent to have your dental claims processed.

To complete positive enrolment, you will need to enter your certificate number, which can be found on a Pension Statement or contact the Pension Centre or your pension office.

Complete positive enrolment:

  • Online: Through the PDSP Member Services website (canadalife.com/pdsp) and click “Complete positive enrolment”.
  • Mail: Download and print a PDSP Positive Enrolment Form from the PDSP Member Services website. Once the form is completed, mail it to the address on the form. You can also call the PDSP Member Contact Centre, see Contact information below, to request a form by mail, you will receive it within 2-3 business days.

Once your positive enrolment is completed, you will have access to your new PDSP benefit card and plan number.

October 24: Important claim submission date

Last day to submit claims to Sun Life by paper or through your Sun Life PDSP Member Services account (sunlife.ca/pdsp).

October 31: Important claim submission date

Last day for your dental provider to directly submit, on your behalf, claims to Sun Life by electronic submission.

November 1: Canada Life becomes new plan administrator

Inform your dental provider of your new plan number, which is determined by birth month or status as a member:

  • January, February, or March: 92111
  • April, May, or June: 92112
  • July, August, or September: 92113
  • October, November, or December: 92114
  • Eligible surviving dependant: 92115

Post November 1: Canada Life is the new plan administrator

  • All claims, even those incurred before November 1, 2024, must be submitted to Canada Life. To be eligible for reimbursement, Canada Life must receive your claim no later than 15 months after the date you incur the expenses.
  • Keep your positive enrolment information up to date with Canada Life. You can update or change your positive enrolment information at any time.
  • To update your category of coverage, contact the Pension Centre or your pension office.

November 1, 2024-May 1, 2026: Sun Life’s continued support

Sun Life will continue to provide you the following support after November 1, 2024:

  • The Sun Life PDSP Member Services website will be decommissioned December 1, 2024. However, you will still have access to your information through the generic Sun Life website until May 1, 2026, by signing into your account at www.mysunlife.ca and navigating to “Benefits centre”, then to “Claims”, and selecting “my claims”.
  • Access to online individual Claim Statements for 18 months from the date your dental claim was processed through the generic Sun Life website (mysunlife.ca) until May 1, 2026.
  • Access to call centre support for website and technical issues, like User ID and password resets until May 1, 2026.
